Brading has, for the past 5 years entered South and South East in Bloom (formally Southern England in Bloom). The Town has always done very well in this competition and has been awarded the Silver Gilt award and category winner of the Large Village group for 2 years running.
After the judges visit to Brading in the summer of 2005, Brading was selected to represent the South East of England in Britain in Bloom. This is a very prestigious competition and shows that the hard work and dedication of local people who help to keep the environment attractive is recognised. Brading was awarded a 'Bronze Award' for this competiton, which is a great achievement.
Along with the regional competitions, the Kynges Town Association is responsible for organising the local competition, Brading in Bloom. There are always a high number of residential gardens, businesses and community groups that enter the competition and the efforts of all these people help Brading to rank highly in the regional competitions. Brading in Bloom is now an annual event and will be run again in the summer of 2008.
