Carriageway Crack Sealing Works – July 2023

Carriageway Crack Sealing Works – July 2023

Island Roads will be carrying out our carriageway crack sealing works on various roads across the Island commencing beginning of July.

Due to the very short duration of the works per site, they will be using 15 minute delay boards where necessary to minimise disruption.  If the works are on narrower carriageways where two-way working isn’t an option, or the works are planned to take more than 15 minutes, they will require short duration road closures whilst undertaking the works.

The July programming window of this operation provides maximum opportunity for the carriageway to fully dry and for the completion of weed spray programme in June/July, meaning minimal requirement for thermal lancing of cracks prior to over-banding.   This allows for quicker, less disruptive operations thus reducing road closure times and, where possible, allowing the use of 15-minute delay boards rather than road closures and diversions, which, in turn, reduces impact on road users.  The programme timing also avoids clashes with planned events on the network.

The programme commences on 3 July, with completion expected by around 27 July.
