Notice of railway crossing closures

The IW Council Rights of Way department have notified Brading Town Council that two railway crossings are to be closed for repair works.   The Vicarage Lane (B4A) level crossing will be closed from Monday 21 March – Tuesday 22 March. 9am – 6pm.   The Jones level crossing (B36) from Lower Furlongs will be closed from Monday 28 March – Tuesday 29 March. 9am – 6pm.

At the Town Council meeting on 04/11/21, Joy Lee was voted in as one of the Town Council’s three nominated Town Trust representatives. The vacancy arose due to Hugh Street stepping down.

Weeds on the Highway

Island Roads is responsible for the treatment of weeds on the highway and this year tried to be environmentally friendly in carrying out this task. Unfortunately, it was not successful and therefore they will return to using herbicides to control the spread of weeds in the future. Weed control

Old Railway Line Closure—UPDATE

Having begun the Laundry Lane section of the Old Railway Line, Wightfibre had to delay their process of cable laying due to unforeseen circumstances. They exhausted all possible options but had to abandon the route for operational reasons. This means they are unlikely to proceed with any further work as planned and will be looking at an alternative route .      

Green Home Grants

Green Home Grants

Grants for home insulation, solar panels, double glazing and other energy related home improvements are currently available from CityEnergy, in conjunction with the Isle of Wight Council and the Footprint Trust.  Applications can be made until March 2022.
