The IW Council are entering into an agreement with Wightfibre to allow the communications company to install an underground cable from the junction of Carpenters Road into Laundry Lane, and along the Old Railway line, to Quay Lane, where their cable has already been installed.

To keep disruption of the wild birds within the RSPB reserve to a minimum,  the work is to be carried out during September, and to enable it to be completed in the shortest time possible, the Old Railway Line will be closed to pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders for the whole month, until the works have been completed.

Wightfibre have agreed to reinstate the old railway line for the whole length of the works, and this should result in a much more even and drier surface afterwards.
