Severe weather warnings and alerts for the Isle of Wight

 A number of warnings and alerts have been issued this morning (@10.00 hrs 16 January 2023) for flooding and cold weather.

 Sandown, Brading and Bembridge on the Eastern Yar.

Although the levels are high, property flooding is not currently expected. The sluice gates at Bembridge are open and throughout the day will enable release into the currently receding tide, prior to the next high tide at 1730 (note that there is no more rain forecast over the coming week). Water levels will be high around Nicholas Close, Brading, Golf Links Road and Morton Common Road and Fort Holiday Park.

Severe Winter Weather – Level 3 Alert

The Met Office advise that there is a 90 % probability of severe cold weather and icy conditions between 0900 Monday 16 January and 0900 Friday 20 January in the South East of England. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.
